The Martin Bauer Group publishes its first Sustainability Report

The Martin Bauer Group, a leading expert of premium botanical solutions for the tea, beverage, food and animal nutrition industries, announces that it has published its first Sustainability Report.

Taking responsibility for future generations
The Martin Bauer Group considers economic, environmental and social responsibility as an integral part of its corporate philosophy. “My great-grandfather, Martin Bauer, wanted to create something meaningful and lasting for the future. Today, we are still deeply committed to this sustainable concept of ‘taking responsibility for future generations’,” stated Anne Wedel-Klein, member of the fourth generation of the founding family, Member of the Management Board of MB-Holding and responsible for sustainability, on the occasion of the report’s publication.

Sustainable supply chain
The Martin Bauer Group sources more than 200 botanicals from over 80 countries, through supply chains that employ more than 300,000 people. The impact on people and the planet is significant and the Martin Bauer Group is aware of its responsibility. The Group has already achieved several results in terms of sustainable certification: 56% of the ten major botanicals is already purchased through certified supply chains. This is a growing trend as demand increases. In line with its commitment and partly in light of the fact that more than ten years ago there were no certifications for its products, the company specifically developed its own sustainable sourcing standard, mabagrown, becoming a pioneer in the creation of sustainable supply chains. In 2014, this standard was verified and recognized by the independent organizations UEBT and UTZ. “Thanks to our strong commitment, we stand out as the first manufacturer that can provide a broad portfolio of UTZ-certified herbal and fruit infusions,” stated Sebastian Sieben, CEO Martin Bauer Group Europe.

Sustainability Report in accordance with the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
The Sustainability Report complies with the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), which provides companies and organizations with the world’s most widely used framework for sustainability reporting. The Martin Bauer Group’s Sustainability Report is based on the currently applicable 2018 GRI Standards. This first Report focuses on the areas that the Company as well as its stakeholders consider most relevant, as they generate the greatest impact on sustainable development. They are embedded in the four core pillars Value Creation, Nature, Supply Chain, and Employees & Community. Further details regarding the 72-page Report — obviously printed carbon neutrally on FSC paper — are available on the website.  Sustainability Report
