Ambitious climate protection goals

MartinBauer and all the other members of global group of companies the nature network are working with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to measure implementation of their emissions reductions targets in line with the latest climate science findings.

The group submitted its commitment letter to the SBTi today, clearly expressing its intention to reduce its impact on the climate to zero by 2030 and to follow the strict SBTi rules. The nature network is therefore now part of a global community of more than 2,700 responsibly minded companies that are implementing science-based climate targets and getting their progress assessed annually by the SBTi.

Working towards the 1.5°C target

With its commitment letter, the nature network is pledging to set binding carbon emissions reduction targets along its entire supply chain. Those targets are in line with the strictest rules and most ambitious scenario – that of limiting global warming to no more than 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

Botanicals and environmental protection are at the heart of what we do

“Addressing climate change is a monumental task, and combining effective policies with sustainable business practices is a huge challenge,” says Ennio Ranaboldo, CEO of MartinBauer North America. “That’s why I am proud that MartinBauer, as a leading botanicals company, has joined the Science Based Targets initiative. This is one step further in the right direction. We are working with like-minded and determined organizations, with a rational and pursuable agenda at the core of everything we do.”

Next step: Present targets by the end of 2022

According to SBTi rules, the nature network now has 24 months to set binding targets, which will then be submitted to the SBTi for validation. Since the nature network has already calculated its overall corporate carbon footprint, it aims to present its interim targets much more quickly than that – by the end of this year. Once the SBTi has validated the targets, the nature network will publically announce its targets and report annually on its progress.
